God's plan and purpose It's really that simple

We make being a Christian to hard some times. As humans it is our nature to over think things. We read into people's responses more than we should we try to figure out things to deeply when all the Lord is looking for is just for us to know His love.

Think about it for a second, most of our fears are rooted in the "not knowing". We don't know what will happen in the future, we don't know where our relationships are going, we don't know what is going on with our health. There are many more of the "not knowings". How would our lives, attitudes, and futures be changed if we really knew God's love for us, if we really rested in the fact that God has a plan and his plan is for love, blessing, a hope and a future. God word says that to us over and over again. I am convinced if we all really knew how much God loved us there would be a confident expectation of the greatness of God revealed in our lives.

Just a quick thought for today!

God has a different way of looking at things!

Just when you try to put God in a box He sneaks out somehow.

We think of God as pure and holy and that would include Jesus but our idea of pure and holy and God's idea of pure and holy may very well be different.

In the linage of Jesus we find four women listed; Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. Ruth and Rahab were of a race detested by the Jews. Tamar and Bathsheba were adulteresses. All four were impure, unfit for the nation of Israel and certainly unfit for the linage of the Son of God but they are there which tells us something about what is pure and holy to God verses what is pure and holy to man.

Purity is not necessarily a physical act as much as a spiritual one. God saw the faith in these four women and not just average faith but great faith that enabled them to not only be counted in the linage of Christ but enough to be mentioned in the scriptures. There were many more women that were in the linage of Christ but these four made the list of mention.

God isn't looking for you to be perfect. Your history, your background, your ethnicity, your heritage, are not the things God is looking for, He is interested in your heart. Canaanities were to be killed and the Israelites were to have nothing to do with them, but God saw a woman who had faith.

Our faith moves mountains. It takes us from no favor to favor with God. Our faith opens impossible doors and it trumps any judgment from God that we may deserve.

Don't allow anything to hold you back from believing God wants to bless you today. Take the leap to believe God at his word that "faith" pleases Him. He is just looking for people, no matter who they are to simply trust Him. He will change the world through them as He did with each of these "unholy and impure" women. God makes all things new!

40 Days to a Better You! Day 40

February 9

Congratulations you made it! You have made a difference in your life, your walk with the Lord, and your health! You know more of who you are and and more of who the Lord is! You also have more of a heart for others as you have learned to intercede. I am very proud of you! Thank you for hanging in there.

1) Please remember to choose something to stop doing.

Whether it is....
- a bad habit
- a sin you have struggled with, or
- some kind of food or drink that you know is not good for you.

Whatever it is break free over this next 40 days

2) Keep reading Grace Walk and/or Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God

3) Get some kind of exercise - Go for a walk, park farther away from the store or the office. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Find some way to help you physical body work    harder and better for you.

4) Read the following Scriptures and think and pray about it through out the day. See what revelation the Lord will give you about it for you day, week, year, or life.

Matthew 17:20

So Jesus said to them, Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Mark 9:23

Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

Matthew 19:26

But Jesus looked at them and said to them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

What impossible things do you want to believe for? What are the impossible battles you are facing and can you believe the Lord to get you through them? You have grown and matured in your faith and now you should expect greater things in your life!

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for every blessing! I know this and the next prayer request are the same but I need us to be praying for both of these. For these last two days expect every blessing, prosperity, household salvation, health, fruitfulness, and overcoming. Let's go out with a bang and expect great things! God is more than enough for each and every one of us and will do great things as we expect them!

 - Pray for the church as a whole. Many participated in the fast and daily read the blogs and worked along side us and some did not. Pray that those who have fasted will be able to help those who have not, to be on the same page and to come to the place of strength and growth where those who have fasted have come. The simple disciplines of being in the word, praying, exercise, and walking away from something that controlled you, will bring a freedom that the others will need and desire as they see it in you. We are one body and need to flow as one to have the impact the Lord wants through us.

         - Pray for the Spirit of Peace in our region and our church. Things in the world will get worse. There will be more violence, more wars, and more messes. We are the light of the world and He is our peace and we need to bring that peace with us everywhere. As the darkness grows darker we are needed to bring the light more brightly and peace will be absolutely necessary in our region, world, and every where we are.

- Pray for one family in our church. Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a Better You! Day 39

February 8

Next to the last day! It is also Paige's birthday. You have almost made it. I can't wait to see what is up next for all of those who were actively  participating in the fast! Be excited

Ephesians 3:19,20

"to know also the love of the Christ that is exceeding the knowledge, that ye may be filled -- to all the fulness of God; 20 and to Him who is able above all things to do exceeding abundantly what we ask or think, according to the power that is working in us,"

Daniel 11:32

"...but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits."

What kind of exciting, amazing things do you think the Lord has planned for you? How big can you dream about the great things God can do through you?

5) Please pray about the following items

- Pray for one family in our church. Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a Better You! Day 38

February 7

Two more days to go! This is the beginning of some great things. You have developed some great habits, reading the Word, exercise, taking time to read, spending time in prayer. Your world has just changed for the better.

John 14: 19 - 21

A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.

Are you secure in your future in heaven? What do these verses say about that? Do you realize how much you are loved by God? What shows that we love God?

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for your Health and Healing blessing. I am believing that just as we saw the "prophetic" begin to grow in our church over the last few years, we will see a healing anointing grow in and through each of us and the church corporate. There are many types of hearings, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual and all of them are equally important and all can be done through Christ.

 - Pray for Paige, Amanda, Christopher and me. Every day I am praying for you. It is my heart-beat that every person would become who God has called them to be. Our church has grown greatly in the last couple of years and I believe it will grow even more. The Lord is giving fresh vision. Please pray for our protection and that we would always have the Lord's heart and mind in all that we are doing for the church. I always want to be in the center of His will and on the edge with Him. I want to see a move of God in and through our church like has never been seen before.

         - Pray for the Spirit of Love in our region and our church. Love has no fear in it. Love believes all things, bears all things, and hopes all things. Love conquers all as Jesus love did on the cross for all of us. People need to see the love of God before they can be conformed to His image and become more like Him. Many times as Christians we want to conform them to His image before they learn they are loved.

- Pray for one family in our church. Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a Better You! Day 37

February 5

It is Wednesday! Have you been able to complete both books? You will be hearing bits and pieces from both books over the next few months as I am sharing. How is the exercise coming? By now you should be totally free of any bad habit that you have chosen to break! Rejoice in your freedom!

Proverbs 3:5,6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Psalm 23: 2,3

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Psalm 37:23,24

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.

Is the Lord leading you daily? How can you allow the Lord to lead you more clearly? From these verses, can you trust that the Lord wants to lead you?

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for your Household Salvation blessing. Many of us have family members who have strayed from the Lord or who have never had a relationship with the Lord. Paul speaking to the Philippian jailer proclaimed that Basically because of his coming to faith, his household would be saved. Because we walk in faith ask the Lord today to surround your family members with people who love the Lord and that their hearts would be softened to Him.

 - Pray for other churches in the Mon Valley. We have brothers and sisters in Christ that are attending other churches in out region. Some like different kinds of expressions than we have but they are still our brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for the Pastors and their churches that the Lord will encourage, bless, and enable them to become all that the Lord wants them to be

         - Pray for the Spirit of Self Control in our culture. Our culture is really out of control. If we were to look at today's television, movies, or listen to the music much of it is filled with angst, lust, and offering no answers or hope for the future. Part of self control means that we focus on what God's Word has to say regardless of what we feel. Our trust is in Him rather than the ills and struggles of our society.

- Pray for one family in our church. Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a better You! Day 36

February 5

It is Tuesday! This is the last Tuesday of our fast. Expect great things. Faithfulness is a hard thing but because you have been faithful to reading, praying, and fasting prepare for blessing. When you seek Him you will find Him when you seek Him with all of your heart.

1 John 5:4,5

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Mark 9:23

Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

If we are called to be over-comers, and called to believe the impossible, and Jesus does not change then what does that mean to you today?

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for your prosperity blessing. 3 John 1:2 tells us that we should prosper and be in health even as our souls prosper. People's minds automatically rush to finances when we talk of prosperity and your prosperity may very well involve finances as the scripture also tells us money answers all things (Ecclesiastes 10:19) but having people around you that love you could be what makes you prosper. Growing in the knowledge of God is what makes you prosper. Fulfilling your destiny could make you prosper. To be honest, I believe prosperity should touch every part of your life, allow it so others may see and ask why you are prospering.

 - Pray for all the the people in the Syrian Conflict. Many Christians have been imprisoned in Syria because of their faith especially conversions from Islam. The conflict has enabled Christians to reach into the refugee and bring the love of God to those who could not be reached in any other situation. God can use even a horrible conflict to reach people for the Kingdom. God did not cause the conflict, man did, but He will use it!

         - Pray for the Spirit of Gentleness in our culture. Gentleness is being kindly, caring and placing others before oneself. Jesus said that He was gentle and lowly. Following His example we can help lead people into a place of peace.

- Pray for one family in our church. Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a Better you! Day 35

February 4

It is Monday! This is the last Monday of our fast. God has done marvelous things but this is only a beginning. The Lord has changed you. Guess what He is not done yet a fast is a time of preparation for what God is about to do. Get ready!

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Romans 14: 17, 18

"for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men."

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for your fruitfulness blessing. Fruit is a natural expression of abiding in the vine. As we are "plugged" into God he will cause us to bear fruit in everything we do! This is God's plan for your life! Believe it today.

 - Pray for all the Christians suffering persecution around the world! Today 500 people will either be persecuted or killed today for their faith. Men and women are fired from jobs, through into prisons, kicked out of schools, thrown into prisons all because they claim to be believers in Jesus.

         - Pray for the Spirit of Faithfulness in our culture. Faithfulness is not about standing when things are good but it is standing believing regardless of the situation. It is never giving up, never turning your back, always standing with the Lord and the people the Lord has called you to.

- Pray for one family in our church. perhaps someone who either their first or last name begins with "Y". Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a Better You! Day 34

February 3

It is Sunday. This is a new and exciting day for what the Lord can do?

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Do you realize how much strength you have today through Christ? Are there any tasks you might be asked to do that you can not accomplish through Christ?

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for your overcoming blessing. We have not been called to maintain but to overcome in all things. As the darkness gets darker He will cause out light to shine brighter. Jesus said in the world you will have tribulation but we are not to fear because He has overcome the world. Rest in his overcoming blessing. Don't be an Eeyore but expect great things because He has overcome for us already!

 - Pray for all the children in our church today. The kids face more evil today then ever in history. Right and wrong have become muddled and to stand for truth can easily make you the odd one out. Truth is never relative it is always truth and does not compromise. The bible talks about a day when people will call good evil and evil good and in many ways are kids are facing that right now. Pray that they will be strengthen, favored, and blessed in all they do. Pray that they will know who they are and what they are called to do.

         - Pray for the Spirit of Kindness in our culture. It is God's kindness that leads us to repentance. He is truly kind to us always and we should recognize that kindness and do like-wise to all we meet. It is not natural to be kind, we are all selfish by nature and kindness breaks selfishness in us

          - Pray for one family in our church. perhaps someone who either their first or last name begins with "W". Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a Better You! Day 33

February 2

It is Saturday! A Day to rest and enjoy family and also a day to get some things done around the house that need to taken care of.

Hebrews 13:5b, 6

For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

Psalm 121:4

Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper;

Psalm 139:7 - 10

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.

Is there any place in the world, in your head or heart that you can go where God isn't with you? What do these scriptures say to you about His love and care for you?

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for your fruitfulness blessings, that the Lord will continue to break us free of everything that  would hinder or stop our fruitfulness! The Father desires for us to bear fruit. Because we are in the Vine it is unnatural for us to not bear fruit. Expect fruitfulness in all that you do!

 - Pray for those battling addictions. There are many forms of addiction in the church it is easy to talk about alcohol, tobacco, gambling, food, and sex addictions but there are also people who are religiously addicted they feel comfortable in religion but not in the presence of the Lord, there are those with addictions to people where rather than loving and lifting others up they are in unhealthy relationships that keep them in bondage. There are many others. Anything that compels you to consistently act in an un-Christ-like manner is an addiction.

         - Pray for the Spirit of Meekness in our culture. Many people actually have a very real problem with this part of the fruit of the Spirit. We have learned through our lives that our strengths are to get us from here to there but meekness requires us to recognize that our strengths come from the Lord and He expects us to be totally submitted to Him, strengths and weaknesses. Meekness dictates that we understand our strengths and use them but rather than under our authority we both our strengths and weaknesses surrender to His authority.

          - Pray for one family in our church. perhaps someone who either their first or last name begins with "V". Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a Better You! Day 32 of our fast

February 1

It is Friday! Great day for fellowship, remember we have service at 7. What a wonderful way to kick off the weekend!

Hebrews 4:12,13

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two- edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

1 John 4: 4 - 6

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

How does God's Word help you to understand what is real and what is fake? How does it help you see the truth in people's hearts?

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

Pray for your relationship blessings, that the Lord will continue to heal and strengthen every relationship in your life! Pray that He will order your relationships as well, eliminating those that are not a blessing to you and strengthening all those where you can be a blessing. He can and will heal and strengthen every relationship we place in His hands!

 - Pray for those in impossible situations. We have some in our church that need healing, that according to the doctors are impossible. There are some in our church that are in need of a financial miracle that would be impossible except for God. There are some in our church who have challenging relationships that apart from a miracle, have no hope. God is in the business of bringing truth to every situation, God's truth of healing, freedom, and deliverance.

         - Pray for the Spirit of Gentleness in our culture. Let's pray that God will be able to raise in our culture Gentlemen and Gentlewomen who treat people with respect and honor. Every person  deserves an element of respect and when they receive it most people will respond in kind.

          - Pray for one family in our church. perhaps someone who either their first or last name begins with "U". Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to a Better you! Day 31

January 31

It is Thursday! What a day, this tends to be one of the most productive work days and could very well be a most productive day for the Kingdom as well!

- Pray for your wisdom blessings. The scripture says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. Wisdom is truly understanding what is truth and what is a lie. Wisdom causes you to make the right decision every time. Wisdom saves us heart-ache, money, and pain.

 - Pray for Pastor Mike and Beth. If you are looking for people who truly lay down their lives for the people, you have found them in Pastor Mike and Beth. They love to be with the people caring for them, praying for them and ministering to them. Their home is always open and so are their hearts. We have been blessed with a wonderful pastoral staff of loving and caring men and women of God. Pastor Mike and Beth are critical to the administration of all that happens at the church.

         - Pray for the Spirit of Patience in our culture. They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength they shall mount up on wings of eagles they will run and not be weary, walk and not faint. I don't know about you but I don't like to wait, however it is only by waiting that we renew our strength and are able to run with endurance. If you want to have the strength to go on strong, from day to day then we must have patience.

          - Pray for one family in our church. perhaps someone who either their first or last name begins with "T". Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

Isaiah 53:5

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Romans 8:6,7,9

So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to deathBut letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace7For the sinful nature is always hostile to GodIt never did obey God’s lawsand it never willBut you are not controlled by your sinful natureYou are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you

What do these scriptures say about our living in peace? Does God's Spirit control you?

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for your health and healing blessings. God is on the move in our church with healing just this past Sunday Rosalie shared how the Lord had opened her ear so she no longer needs a hearing aid. This is only a beginning. I am asking for health as well because healing will not be necessary if we are all in great health. Sometimes the Lord wants to speak to us about the way we eat, rest, exercise, and handle stress. these are all very practical things that the Lord can give us wisdom about to keep us healthy.

 - Pray for Pastor Gary and Kathy. It is such a blessing to have the depth of understanding of the word and strength of character that we have in our leadership team. When you say Man of your word, you should think of Pastor Gary together they are a couple full of the love of God and love for each other and they freely share that with others. Their hearts for the sick and hurting have given them a great desire to see the wounded healed, that is why you will see them often if you are ever in the hospital. Together they also have a strong heart to mentor and see people become who the Lord has called them to be. Pray for them they are a wonderful example of the Lord always have a great plan for our lives.
         - Pray for the Spirit of Peace in our culture. There is a bumper sticker I have seen on numerous occasions that reads Know Him Know Peace, No Him, No Peace. It is so true! As you are reading Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God you are finding a clear way to knowing the Lord. Allow His peace to reign in your heart and share that with a world who does not know Him and you will see a change where you live, shop, eat, and /or work.

          - Pray for one family in our church. perhaps someone who either their first or last name begins with "S". Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!

40 Days to Better You! Day 29

January 29

It is Tuesday! What does the Lord have for you today? It is a new day, expect great things!

John 8:32, 36

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

1 John 4: 1- 4

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Do you feel free today? If not, what is holding you back? God promises freedom, liberty and overcoming what will it take for you to walk in that freedom today?

5) Please pray about the following items

In the Lord's prayer we are told to ask first for our daily bread

- Pray today and every day during our fast, a prayer of thanksgiving to God for what He has done for you!

- Pray for your freedom blessings, that the Lord will continue to break us free of everything that binds us. We need to be set free of any lies, wounds, rejections, fears, addictions, sins, or any other thing that pulls us away from the Lord!

 - Pray for Pastor Art and Kay. When you look up faithfulness in the dictionary their pictures should be there. They have been faithful to the Lord and this church for many years. They are a perfect match with Pastor Art's demonstrative personality and Kay's sweet demeanor. They have touched many lives over the years making sure that people walk in the fullness of the Lord's Spirit. They have had many struggles and battles over the years and have faithfully trusted the Lord and He has brought them through victorious every time.

         - Pray for the Spirit of Joy in our culture. There is fullness of joy when we learn to walk in freedom. Our culture is in so much bondage to lust, hedonism, fear and so many other things but when we get free and we share that freedom with others that will walk in that freedom and know the joy we all have.

          - Pray for one family in our church. perhaps someone who either their first or last name begins with "Q" and "R". Pray that the Lord would bless and encourage them in some way today!
